If you have a broken tooth, it is wise to have a crown placed. We speak of a bridge when you have two or more crowns placed. The treatment is often divided over two visits. After it has been decided that we will place a crown or bridge, the treatment looks like this:
In order to place a crown or bridge, space is needed in your teeth. That is why we grind down part of your tooth(s) to create this space. If necessary, we will provide you with anesthesia during this step.
The dentist then makes an impression of your teeth. We send this impression to the dental lab. In the lab, they will make your crown or bridge in two to three weeks.
During the bite registration, we examine the position of your teeth. This is necessary to determine the correct shape and height of the crown or bridge.
Every set of teeth has a different color. We make sure that your crown or bridge is the same color as the teeth around it. We use a color scheme for this.
Since it takes a few weeks for your crown or bridge to be made, we place a temporary crown. This allows you to bridge the period until your final version.
Once your real crown or bridge is finished, we schedule an appointment to place it permanently. We fix it with hardening cement. This ensures that it does not simply come loose.
